Post-Care Instructions

1. Managing Discomfort

• Take prescribed pain relievers or over-the-counter medication if needed

• Use orthodontic wax to cover brackets or wires that irritate your cheeks

2. Eating & Drinking

• Stick to soft foods like curd, dal rice, upma, khichdi, and pasta for the first few days

• Avoid sticky, hard, and crunchy foods (chewing gum, popcorn, nuts, ice cubes)

• Limit sugary snacks to prevent cavities

3. Oral Hygiene

• Brush gently with an orthodontic toothbrush or soft-bristled brush after every meal

• Use interdental brushes or floss threaders to clean between brackets

• Rinse with an antimicrobial mouthwash to reduce plaque buildup

4. Protecting Your Braces

• Do not bite nails, chew pens, or open packets with your teeth

• Wear a mouthguard while playing sports

5. Handling Emergencies

• If a wire is poking, gently push it back with a cotton swab or cover with wax until you can see your dentist
