    What to Expect After Getting an Immediate Denture

    • Mild soreness or pressure for a few days

    Post-Care Instructions

    1. Keep the Denture in Place for the First 24 Hours

    • Do not remove the denture on the first night unless advised by your dentist

    • This helps control swelling and protects the surgical site

    2. Manage Discomfort & Swelling

    • Take prescribed medication as directed

    • Apply ice packs on the outside of your face for 15 minutes at a time during the first day

    3. Eating & Drinking

    • Start with soft foods like khichdi, mashed potatoes, yogurt, and dal rice

    • Gradually introduce firmer foods as you adapt

    • Avoid sticky, hard, or very hot foods during the healing phase

    4. Oral Hygiene

    • Rinse your mouth with a saltwater solution 24 hours after surgery to keep the gums clean

    • Remove the denture carefully for cleaning as advised

    • Brush the denture gently with a soft brush (avoid toothpaste to prevent scratching)

    5. Adjustments & Relining

    • Gum swelling will reduce over the first few weeks, so your denture may need adjustments for comfort and stability

    • Attend all follow-up appointments for relining and bite corrections

    Long-Term Care

    • Remove the denture at night to let your gums rest

    • Store it in clean water or denture solution

    • Visit your dentist every 6 months for evaluation and cleaning
